What documents are required to open a beauty salon?

documents to open beauty salon

The beauty industry is particularly popular among immigrants from CIS countries. Let’s figure out together what documents are necessary to open a beauty salon.

  1. Building Use Permit (Kolaudace). This confirms that the designated use of the premises complies with legal requirements. You must check the premises’ designated use and the possibility of changing it BEFORE you sign a lease agreement. You also need to know what designated use is required for which services. For example, for laser hair removal, a permit for a medical facility will soon be required, not just a cosmetology one.
  2. Operating Rules (Provozní řád). It is necessary not only to create the document itself (a template is available online) but also to have it approved by the Public Health Office (hygienická stanice).
  3. Trade License (Povolení k provozování živností). This is a permit to conduct business activities. If you have several types of activities, you must have a license for EACH one. If you are not a qualified person yourself, you will need a responsible representative (odpovědný zástupce).
  4. Terms and Conditions (Obchodní podmínky). A document describing the rights and obligations of you and your clients.
  5. Complaints Procedure (Reklamační řád). This outlines the ways a client can file a complaint or claim.
  6. Price list of services, including a description of the cost of complex procedures. This document is especially important when resolving client claims, which can be quite frequent.
  7. OHS (BOZP) documentation and confirmation of your employees’ training in occupational health and safety measures.
  8. Contracts with all employees and proof of their proper qualifications for the specific procedures they perform. Attention! Inspections are currently being carried out on the validity of beauty industry specialists’ licenses based on their qualification confirmations!*
  9. Contracts with suppliers and proper invoices for the purchase of materials.
  10. Accounting documents. If you are a VAT payer, these must be kept for the last 10 years. A change in the company’s ownership does not relieve the new owners of this responsibility.
